With the establishment of Government Degree College Gosaikheda, the Department of History was established under the Faculty of Arts. The department follows the curriculum prescribed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with an emphasis on developing historical understanding, critical thinking, research skills and a broader appreciation of India's cultural and social heritage.

The department is enriched by enthusiastic and academically motivated students who actively participate in various academic, cultural and co-curricular competitions and have achieved success at different levels. The department library has a rich collection of History books covering the prescribed syllabus for each semester, along with reference materials, enabling students to broaden their knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of historical events, cultures and civilizations.

The Departmental Council of the History Department provides students with opportunities to participate in various academic and co-curricular activities. Students are encouraged to take part in quiz competitions, where meritorious participants are recognized and rewarded each year. The council also facilitates the participation of departmental students in college-level activities, including annual sports, annual functions, cultural programmes and other academic and co-curricular events.
