The Department of Physics was established with the opening of Government Degree College Gosaikheda under the Faculty of Science. The department follows the syllabus prescribed under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to develop a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge as well as practical and experimental skills.

The Physics Laboratory provides students with opportunities to understand fundamental concepts through hands-on experimentation. The laboratory includes apparatus related to Mechanics, Electronics, Optics, Electricity, Magnetism and Modern Physics.

Important experimental facilities include Bar Pendulum, Fly Wheel, Stewart and Gee's Apparatus, Maxwell Needle, PN Junction Diode, Zener Diode, CRO, Operational Amplifier, LCR Circuit, Hall Effect Apparatus, BJT, FET and Rectifier Circuits.

The department library contains reference books covering major areas of Physics such as Mechanics, Electronics, Optics, Thermal Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Statistical Physics, Nuclear Physics and Solid State Physics.

The Departmental Council encourages students to participate in quizzes, academic programmes, innovation activities, IIC activities, sports, annual programmes and other co-curricular events.

Faculty members are encouraged to remain engaged in academic development, research activities, publications and other scholarly pursuits.
